Why the Bible

To be in the Word is to get to know God.

Jesus is our foundation. (1 Corinthians 3:11)

In the beginning was the Word (John 1:1)

Jesus is the Word. (John 1:1-3, 14)

Jesus and the Father are one. (John 10:30)

The significance of the Word today

It is a lamp for our path (Psalm 119:105)

It is flawless (Psalm 18:30)

It is our judge. (Hebrews 4:12)

Where do we find the Word?

From prophets. (2 Peter 1:19-21)

In a whisper/small voice (Matthew 10:27, 1 Kings 19: 9-12)

What do we do with the Bible?

From 2 Peter 1:19-21, “And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Goal: For the word of God to abide in us, like I John 2:14 , in a letter from John to early disciples.
